Tournament Rules

  1. Format
    1. Games for 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U teams will be six (6) innings or one hour and forty-five minute time limit (1:45).
    2. Games for 13U and 14U will be seven (7) innings or one hour and fifty minute time limit (1:50).
    3. Games for 15U, 16U and 18U will be seven innings (7) or a two hour time limit (2:00).
    4. Semi Finals and Finals have no time limit (weather permitting and/or indoors)

  2. Time
    1. All teams are required to be at RoundTripper ready to play at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of their game.
    2. If the game prior to yours ends early there will be 15 minutes allotted to your team for warming up and then the game will start promptly thereafter.
    3. Any team not ready to start ten minutes after the scheduled start time of their game maybe subjected to forfeit their game.
    4. Time Between Innings
      1. Pitchers are allowed to throw 8 warm-up pitches in their first inning and 5 warm-up pitches in all subsequent innings
  3. Run Rule for 9u – 14u
    1. There will be a 15 run rule after 3 innings
    2. There will be a 12 run rule after 4 innings
    3. There will be an 8 run rule after 5 innings
  4. Run Rule for 15u and up
    1. There be a 15 run rule after three innings
    2. There be a 10 run rule after four innings
    3. There be a 8 run rule after five innings
  5. Infield
    1. There will be no infield practice prior to the start of any game
    2. You are allowed to use the indoor field(all team must share this facility)
    3. Warm Up will be allowed for fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled start of the game and will take place down the outfield lines.
  6. Home team/Visiting team
    1. In pool play, a coin flip between opposing coaches will take place prior to the start of the game to choose which team will be the home team.
    2. In elimination rounds, the higher seed is HOME team.
  7. Mound Visit
    1. There may be three free defensive conferences at the mound during the entire course of a game without being required to remove the pitcher from the mound. Upon the fourth such conference of the game, and each subsequent conference, the pitcher must be removed from the mound. He/she may assume a defensive position however.
  8. Reentry overall
    1. 9U - 13U - There will be free Substitution allowed.
    2. 14U and Up - Starters may be reentered once, including the DH, as long as the player occupies the same position in the batting order. Subs cannot re-enter the game once they have been removed.
    3. Pitchers may re-enter but not as a pitcher.
  9. Pitching Restrictions
    1. 9U-12U - No more than 6 innings in a day and no more than 10 innings for the tournament. Each coach is to fill out the pitching sheet immediately after each game and each coach must sign. The spirit of this rule is to protect young player's arms. IT IS NOT TO WIN A GAME. Coach your own team. No pitching information will be given on pitchers not on your team. RT staff will tabulate the innings at the conclusion of play each day. Any team found in violation will forfeit the game in which the pitcher went over his available innings.
    2. 13U-18U - There are no pitching restrictions. (Coaches are to make responsible choices regarding pitchers. Throw a pitcher as much as you want at your pitcher's own risk. YOU ARE PREPARING THEM FOR LATER IN LIFE NOT JUST TO WIN THIS TOURNAMENT.)
  10. Designated Hitter
    1. The DH must be declared prior to the game.
    2. The player for which the hitter is designated to hit for can be used as a substitute and the DH will enter the game defensively.
    3. The role of the DH will be terminated for the remainder of the game if the DH enters the game defensively.
  11. Extra Hitter
    1. In all age divisions, an EH will be allowed. This will give a team a 10-player line-up that must be declared before the start of the game and used the remainder of the game. The player in the EH position, while not actually playing a defensive position, will be treated as though they are for substitution purposes. The re-entry rule applies for the EH.
  12. Foul Balls
    1. Each team is asked to track down foul balls on their respective side of the field throughout the entire game.
  13. Courtesy Runner
    1. A courtesy runner can only be used for the catcher
      1. It may be used for the pitcher in 14u and up
    2. This is not a substitution
    3. It is MANDATORY with two outs
    4. The courtesy runner must be the last Batted out or a player currently not in the lineup.
  14. Slide Rule
    1. A player MUST slide to avoid contact.
    2. A player MUST try to avoid contact on all plays. (Umpires Discretion)
    3. Head First sliding is allowed at all bases(any age)
  15. Bat Restrictions
    1. a. Non-Wood bats must have the 1.15 BPF Stamp on barrel for 14 and under ages. No drop restrictions. Barrel may be up to 2 ¾”.
    2. For 15U and older, BBCOR Stamp must be on bat.
  16. Tie Games After Regulation or Time Limit
    1. If a game ends in a tie after the allotted innings or the time limit, the following format will be used to determine a winner:

      1st extra inning: Each team will start their offensive half of the inning with the last batter of the previous inning on 2nd base. Each batter will start with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike, with one out.

      2nd extra inning: Each team will start their offensive half of the inning with the last batter of the previous inning on 1st base, the next to last batter of the previous inning on 2nd base. Each batter will start with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike, with one out.

      All subsequent innings: Each team will start their offensive half of the inning with the last batter of the previous inning on 1st base, the next to last hitter of the previous inning on 2nd base, and the third to last hitter of the previous inning on 3rd base. Each batter will start with a count of 1 ball and 1 strike, with one out.
  17. Game Delays
    1. 7 Inning Game - a complete game is 4 innings or 1 hour and 10 minutes.
    2. 6 Inning Game - a complete game is 3 innings or 1 hour and 1 minute.
    3. If play is suspended after these two points the score of the game will revert to the last completed inning.
  18. Rain Out Procedure
    1. DUE TO THE POTENTIAL OF INCLINEMENT WEATHER ROUNDTRIPPER HAS CREATED A STANDARD CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL OF OUR TOURNAMENT EVENTS. REFUNDS STIPULATED IN THIS POLICY REFER TO THE INDIVIDUAL TEAMS ENTRY FEE MONEY.
      1. 50% if tournament is cancelled on the first day of the event which no games have been played.
      2. Otherwise, no refunds.
      3. No gate admission refunds. If chance of rain we recommend fans stay out of the park until game begins.
      4. PLEASE UNDERSTAND WE ARE ONE OF THE HARDEST WORKING CREWS AROUND AND IF IT RAINS WE WILL DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO GET IN AS MANY GAMES AS WE CAN, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THESE THINGS DO HAPPEN AND WE HOPE EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS AND COOPERATES WITH THE ABOVE PROCEDURES.
  19. Check In
    1. You must check your team in with the Tournament Director before the start of your first game.
  20. Tie Breakers
    1. Head to Head for two teams who are tied for one spot who have played each other
    2. Total runs allowed during pool play
    3. Total runs scored during pool play
    4. Coin flip; by the coaches to be called in the air by the coach who has traveled the farthest to play

Rosters

*3 adults are allowed in the dugout(1 coach,1 manager,1 scorekeeper)

There is no limit on the number of players on a roster


Ejections

All ejections face a possible second game or tournament suspension determined by the Tournament Director


Injuries

If a player is injured and no substitute is available that spot in the lineup will

be skipped and no penalty will be incurred.


Appeals

All coaching appeals to the Tournament Director about an umpire call or

ruling will be charged $100. No ruling or call will be reviewed until the

$100 fee is paid in full to the Director.


Field Nets

For 12U and younger the field nets are considered a homerun or foul

ball, depending on location. For 13U and older, field nets are to be

considered fences and played off of accordingly.


The RTSA Rule

All rules, schedules, and seeding are subject to change at any time by the

Tournament Director. All descions made by the Tournament Director are final

Chris founded ROUNDTRIPPER in 1993 following a 7- year career in professional baseball. He played in the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Montreal Expos organizations. Prior to his professional career Chris was an All-American at the University of Kentucky. His superb expertise in hitting has made him one of the most respected instructors in the country.
